The THRIVE Mentorship Program was co-founded by Dr. Jennifer Brodmann, Dr. Kirti Celly, and Dr. Meghna Singhvi as a means to build mentoring relationships between CSUDH students and industry members. The program is called THRIVE, which is an acronym for the following attributes:
Thoughtful
Helpful
Resilient
Innovative
Valiant
Engaging
These attributes are based on the new skillset that is expected of students and professionals in the workplace (Accenture, 2017; Marr, 2019; Pate, 2020), which are emphasized during the program. Thoughtful refers to critical thinking and decision-making. Helpful refers to team-building and to assist with projects that may be further than their job description. Resilient refers to grit, determination, and adaptability to change. Innovative refers to creativity and technology skills. Valiant refers to being fearless, noble, and having a growth mindset. Engaging refers to interpersonal communication and leadership skills.
